India: Shuktara House (2012)
Joel Barish (Deaf Nation) visits the Shuktara House in Kolkata, a residential center for Deaf adults with additional handicaps. There, Joel learns about the facility and from the support of donations to the DeafNation Foundation, makes a donation of art supplies to the Deaf people who live there.
Discovering: Shuktara (2008)
Filmed in early 2008, Discovering: Shuktara, Discovering Deaf Worlds first documentary film, is the remarkable story of eighteen deaf/disabled boys and girls in Kolkata, India who were given a new chance at life after being abandoned by their families or escaping abusive homes. While many non-governmental organizations in India often overlook homeless children who are deaf or have cerebral palsy, shuktara embraces them.
