Pinku was about 10 years old when he came to shuktara in 2003. He is Deaf and first learned to sign when he was around the other boys and saw how they communicated. His signing improved through studying at the Deaf Unit at REACH School and interacting with the other students there.

He used to amuse us by doing somersaults around the flat and making squeaky sounds. And he would laugh a lot! Now a mature young man, Pinku is very quiet and more introverted. It has been fascinating to watch his technical mind develop; he loves doing mathematical calculations and drawing architectural designs.
