Raju Biswas
Raju Biswas is Deaf and autistic. He arrived at shuktara on 28 February 2021 and is settling into Anna Bari, his new home.

Bappa Singh
Bappa Singh came to shuktara on 30 January 2019. He’s a bright little boy and even though his legs and one arm don’t work very well he is very mobile.

Aakash Chaudri
Aakash has cerebral palsy and arrived at shuktara 28 March 2018. He has an infectious smile and wants to engage with everyone around him.

Subhash Kumar
Subhash loves to listen to Hindi music. He doesn’t speak but understands what is happening around him.

Guria Thakur
Guria is hearing. Non-verbal. With severe Cerebral Palsy. And obviously bright as a button!

Moni Mondal
Moni came to shuktara in September 2014. She has many moods and always photographs beautifully.

Muniya Dutta
Muniya loves to sing and dance – she is without a doubt the most extroverted person in Lula Bari.

Prity Kundan
Prity has cerebral palsy and no use of her legs. She is probably the most intelligent girl at shuktara.

Lali Khatoon
Lali has cerebral palsy, she is really gentle with the other girls and enjoys caring for Puja, Guria and especially Prity.
She loves embroidery and needlework which is displayed in Lula Bari.

Tamina Naskar
Tamina came to shuktara in 2008. She has learning difficulties which can affect her behaviour however as Pappu says “she makes the girls’ house really alive.”

Rajesh Roy
Rajesh is deaf and also has Usher Syndrome, which will lead to him losing his sight. He is the most gentle soul.

Pinku Das
Pinku is Deaf. He is really tall and is very architectural/mathematical in his thoughts and designs.

Raju Das
Raju is a baker extraordinaire. He loves Shuktara Cakes & Alain Cojean who started the project where he works.

Ramesh Das
Ramesh is seen by many to be a man of many strange ways, but to others they see a huge hidden intelligence.
These are the shuktara family members who are now living independently.

Ipshita Saha
Ipshita is Deaf and was the second girl to join our girls home in 2007. Her passion is her needlework. Ipshita now lives in the Punjab with her friend Ruchi.
