Holi was celebrated much more vigorously in Lula Bari, our girls home, than it was by the boys here in Kolkata.
Maybe as they grow older, the boys are not quite so interested, but the girls had a great day.
Just over a year ago Muniya, like many other children with disabilities, was abandoned by her mother and left alone on the street. Some, like her, are lucky enough to find safety in places like shuktara! This photo was taken today by Pappu Mishra (Chairman of shuktara) in Lula Bari, our girls house. It is the place that Muniya now knows as her own home and we will never abandon her.
Tamina came to shuktara in 2008, when she was around nine years old. She was being cared for in a night shelter close to Howrah Station, along with Lali. They asked if we would take both girls, and so Pappu collected Tamina and then went back for Lali the next day.
